Tours in southeast Iceland with local companies

Please note the starting points of the tours vary between companies and even time of year so look for that on each product. All tours sold here are operated in south east Iceland though.

Skaftafell in Öræfi is about 330 km from Reykjavík and Jökulsárlón ice lagoon is 380 km from Reykjavík and it takes about 5 hours to drive there in summer conditions. In winter you have to expect longer driving times if the road conditions are icy.

Tours that include visits to ice caves

Southeast Iceland is famous for the ice caves of Vatnajökull glacier. They are mostly only approachable in winter, when there is less melding of the glaciers.

Long and short glacier hikes in southeast Iceland

Vatnajökull glacier in southeast Iceland is on of the bigger glacier of the world and a visit to one of its glacier tongues is a must do when you visit Iceland.

A good way to explore glacier lagoons in southeast Iceland is by boat, kayak or packraft. We are working on those pages, there are already some boat tours there but not kayak and packraft yet.

Sightseeing flights and helicopter tours

Seeing the glacier landscape of south east Iceland from above is out of this world experience. There are also helicopter tours available with landing in remote places out of the crowds.
